Colloquy is a critical thinking class focusing on challenging students’ assumptions about their everyday lives and relating social concepts. The guiding question of the course is “Who Am I?”
Students explore this question by exploring key concepts of Social Class, Gender, Race, Religion, Art, and The Self. Colloquy is a course that emphasizes skills development through this content.

Unit 1: Social Class

Unit 2: Gender
Investigate the construction of gender and its impact on personal identity. This unit will challenge societal norms, and stereotypes, and explore the fluidity of gender across different cultures.
Unit 3: Race
Unpack the role of race in identity formation. We will analyze how race intersects with other aspects of identity and how racial identity is shaped by history, culture, and social constructs.
Unit 4: Belief Systems
Examine how religious, philosophical, and cultural beliefs influence identity. This unit explores the way belief systems provide frameworks for meaning, morality, and belonging.
